This commentary explains the words of the prophet Zephaniah, addressed to a traumatized people who have just survived a war and face an uncertain future.

I sincerely recommend this book. Firstly, because of the way in which the authors make use of the isiZulu language. Secondly, because of the way they show the importance of the prophet Zephaniah, one of the lesser known prophets as even the Bible doesn’t reveal much about him. But particularly for people in South Africa who suffered under an oppressive government, the message of the prophet is as relevant as ever.

This book may be of great help in reading and sharing the message of the Bible, especially for those isiZulu speakers who struggle to understand commentaries in English. Yet, I encourage all those who are passionate about preaching and teaching the Christian faith, to use this book so that they may grow in their work for the Lord.

Lencwadi ihlaziya amazwi omphrofethi uZefaniya aqondiswe kubantu abahlukumezekile abasinda empini abanekusase elalingacacile.

Ngezizathu ezimbili, lencwadi iyancomeka kakhulu. Okokuqala, yindlela ababhali abasebenzise ngayo ulwimi lwesiZulu. Okwesibili, umphrofethi uZefaniya ungomunye wabanganakiwe eBhayibhelini, futhi cishe iBhayibheli alivezi okuningi ngaye. Kodwa umyalezo wakhe ubalulekile ikakhulu kubantu baseNingizimu Afrika abavela kuhulumeni wobandlululo, owawuphethe ngencindezelo.

Okunye futhi okubalulekile wukuthi lencwadi izosiza abaningi abangakwazi kahle ukusebenzisa ulimi lwesiNgisi ekufundeni nasekufundiseni iBhayibheli. Nokho, ngiyakhuthaza bonke abanothando lokushumayela nokufundisa ngenkolo yobuKhristu ukuthi bazitholele lencwadi futhi bayisebenzise ukuze bakhule emsebenzini weNkosi.
